Marcie Lorentz

Marcie Lorentz, 78, was born Jan. 7, 1938 in Wheeling, W.Va., daughter to Roy Barlow and Gertrude Evelyn (Workman) Lorentz. Marcie spent the majority of her life in different locations around Ohio but moved to Lewistown in 1996 after falling in love with the mountains.

Marcie always had a lot of love for horses, nature, earth’s creatures, music and would often make trips to the mountains for a hike. She liked to help others when she could and would often be found volunteering at the local library and museum. Marcie had a great passion for all types of art; from coloring finely detailed pictures to knitting squares for children in Africa (and hats, scarfs, and blankets for friends and family) to painting rocks vibrant colors that resembled Native American artwork.

Marcie is survived by her only daughter, Lisa Stough; her two grandchildren, James Hampton and Katelyn Hampton; and great-grandchildren, Hunter and Lily Hampton.

She spent the remainder of her days abandoning her healthy eating habits by indulging in pizza and cookies every day while laughing with her daughter. She passed away peacefully in her sleep early in the morning on Nov. 23.

At a future date, a small service will be held for family and close friends in the Judith Mountains near Lewistown. The family asks that donations be made to the Lewistown Library or Lewistown Museum in honor of Marcie. With all our love, Lisa, James and Katelyn.

Creel Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Marcie’s family and friends can share memories and condolences at www.creelfuneralhome.com.
