Mary L. (Doty) Mendenhall, 95, a long-time resident of Lewistown, passed away May 4, 2019 at the Central Montana Nursing and Rehab Center

Mary was born in Red Lodge, April 12, 1924, the daughter of Albert Doty and Margaret (Orange) Doty.She graduated from Carbon County High School in 1942. Mary worked for the government in Washington, D.C., during World War II and, upon returning to Montana, worked for Mountain Bell as an operator for many years.Mary married Bob Mendenhall in 1957 and they were married for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Mendenhall, in 2010, her daughter Lynette Mendenhall Waller in 2013, two sisters, Ellen and Irma, and her brother, Jean.

Mary was an accomplished seamstress and created many costumes for the Festival of Nations in Red Lodge. She was also very active in the Pink Ladies Hospital Auxiliary.

Mary is survived by her two step-daughters, Bobbi (John) Montgomery of Hawaii and Vicki (Ken) Vander Ven of Lewistown, three granddaughters, one grandson and four greatgrandchildren.

A memorial service will be held this summer and announced at a later date.
