Chess Club to meet at Library Meeting Room Tuesday

 

This Tuesday, Nov. 21, Brett Thackeray invites all ages to “Chess Club” at the Lewistown Public Library. 

“Anyone is welcome,” Thackeray said, “no matter your age and no matter your experience. If you haven’t played before, we’ll get you started.”

Chess Club takes place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Fergus High United Nations to hold fundraiser

 

The Fergus High Model United Nations Club will be holding a fundraiser in conjunction with Pizza Hut on Nov. 30. A portion of all proceeds from the sale of food between 6 and 9 p.m. will go to help support the club’s upcoming trip to their Missoula competition.

 

First Presbyterian Church  offers free Thanksgiving Day dinner

 

On Thursday, Nov. 23 from 12-2 p.m., First Presbyterian Church will provide a free Thanksgiving Day dinner with deliveries to the homebound. For more information, call 538-2112.

 

TEDD formation and irrigation ditch grant on agenda for City Commission

 

The Lewistown City Commission meets Monday, Nov. 20 at the Central Montana Community Center 307 W. Watson Street. The Committee of the Whole meets at 6 p.m. for a discussion on the Lewistown Comprehensive Development Plan and the process of creating the Targeted Economic Development District. 

At 7 p.m. the Commission meets. Items on the agenda include discussion and possible action on a conditional use permit for Doug Stephens to allow a commercial shop on lot 2-C of the Zackus Subdivision, discussion and possible action on a resolution to establish a TEDD district with a tax increment financing program, discussion and possible action on a planning grant for irrigation ditch improvements, and discussion and possible action on the 2017-2018 School District No. 1 agreement. The meeting is open to the public.

 

Library closes for Thanksgiving

 

The Lewistown Public Library will be closed for Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, Nov. 23. Regular hours will resume on Friday, Nov. 24.

 

Moose to hold annual Thanksgiving dinner

 

The annual Thanksgiving dinner at the Moose will be held on this evening at 6 p.m. Bring your family and friends for good food, good friends and fun.

 

Groovy Gaffers to headline today’s dance

 

The Groovy Gaffers will provide the music for today’s afternoon dance. The band features Laurie Lohrer on vocals, and Dave Robertson and Don and Barb Engle on guitars and vocals.

The dance hall is located at the corner of Third Avenue South and Barnes Street. The dance goes from 2-4 p.m. Dancers of all ages are welcome.

There will be a coffee/cookie break at 3 p.m. There is a small admission fee.

 

 

 

Join  'Evening of Thankfulness' potluck dinner

 

The Compassionate Friends of Central Montana will have an “Evening of Thankfulness” on Monday, Nov. 20, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Saint Leo’s Parish Hall. We will begin with a potluck dinner. The main course will be provided; members are asked to bring a photo of their child and something to share for the potluck their child would have liked to eat. Our discussion will center around being grateful for the gifts that our children gave to us.

 

 

Fair board meets Tuesday

 

The Fergus County Fair Board meets Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 5:30 p.m. athe Trade Center Lobby at the fairgrounds. Items on the agenda include committee reports, fairgrounds report, update on cement bathroom project, discussion of mill levy, purchase of lawn mower and truck tires, Black Friday closure, camping agreement, and discussion of the fair, including a fair thank you dinner. The meeting is open to the public.
