Scholarship offered to Lewistown students

 

A-1 Auto Transport, Inc., announced they are offering a scholarship to local Lewistown students. The scholarship for $250, $500 and $1,000 is open to students who are enrolled in an accredited college, truck driving school or other logistics program either full or part time and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. There is no minimum age to enter for the scholarship.

The scholarship will be sent directly to the financial office of the student’s school.

MSU Extension offers Farm Management workshops

 

MSU Extension Economists will offer free Farm Management workshops in five communities, January – March 2018. Workshops are scheduled for two days, and will cover the following topics: Financial analysis and enterprise budgeting; risk management; marketing of grain and cattle; disaster assistance and tax considerations; agricultural policy issues; estate planning; and crop and livestock production.

A pre-workshop optional course, Introduction to Quicken, will be offered on Jan. 3 (Lewistown), Feb. 7 (Ronan), Feb. 12 (Choteau), Feb. 20 (Great Falls), and March 7 (Glasgow). This optional course will be held from 12-5 p.m. on those days. The number of participants is limited to 12 individuals.

The Farm Management workshops will be held at the following locations January – March 2018:

• Lewistown – Jan. 4-5, Yogo Inn, Snowy Room, 211 N.E. Main St.

• Ronan – Feb. 8-9, Ronan Community Center, 300 Third Ave.

• Choteau – Feb. 13-14, Stage Stop Inn, 1005 Main Ave. N.

• Great Falls – Feb. 21-22, Cascade County Extension Office, 3300 Third St. N.E., No. 9

• Glasgow – March 8-9, Cottonwood Inn and Suites, 54250 US-2

Participation in these workshops will satisfy the requirements for Farm Service Agency Production and Financial Management Training. There is no cost for this workshop. First Christian Church to host Red Cross Blood Drive

 

The First Christian Church of Lewistown, located at 103 12th Ave. South, will host a Red Cross Lewistown Community Blood Drive in the Banquet Room on Monday, Dec. 4, from 12-6 p.m.

Montana Pulse Crop Committee meets Thursday

 

The Montana Pulse Crop Committee will meet at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30 in Great Falls at the Best Western Heritage Inn (1700 Fox Farm Rd.). The agenda for the meeting includes reports from the Department of Agriculture, industry and trade updates, MSU update, legal updates and more.

Silver Sage Country Band plays for Saturday dance

 

The Silver Sage Country Band is scheduled to play for the Saturday afternoon dance, Dec. 2. The band features Lloyd McKenna on mandolin and guitar, Meryl McKenna on piano, Barbara Engle on bass guitar and Don Engle on lead guitar. All will participate in harmony vocals.

The dance hall is located at the corner of Third Avenue South and Barnes Street. The dance goes from 2 to 4 p.m. Dancers of all ages are welcome.

There will be a coffee/cookie break at 3 p.m. There is a small admission fee.
