Arts group will discuss downtown benches


The Lewistown Arts and Entertainment District Board will meet at noon on Friday, Sept. 23, in the Chokecherry Lane Mall. Discussion will include plans to restore existing benches and add more in the downtown area. The meeting is open to the public.  


Fair board to elect officers Sept. 27


The Fergus County Fair Commission meets Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 5:30 p.m. at the Trade Center. Items on the agenda include committee reports, fairgrounds manager report, rail extensions for ends of grandstand seating, election of officers, RMAF registration, county facility rentals, budget, committees, and for the Central Montana Fair, 2017, inflatable fun zones, financial reports and thank you dinner. The meeting is open to the public.


LDA to meet Sept. 28


The next Lewistown Downtown Association meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 28 at Brooks conference room.

Event planning meeting will be held at 1 p.m. and the Regular board meeting will be held at 2 p.m.

This meeting is open to the public; hope to see you all there.


Learn about the Public Land/Water Access Association


The Snowy Mountain Chapter of Trout Unlimited will host a presentation about the Public Land/Water Access Association on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Yogo Inn. Glenn Elison, a PLWA director, TU member, Fergus County resident and landowner, and an avid hunter and angler will discuss PLWA, its mission, ongoing issues, history and accomplishments that benefit anglers, hunters and other outdoor users.  Please join us to learn more about issues that impact your access to your public lands and waters.  

Those who wish to share a light dinner (on your own) will meet in the Yogo Inn bar at 5:45 p.m. At about 6:45 p.m., we will move to our meeting room where coffee and dessert will be provided. Please join us. Call or email Mike Chapman, 538-2517, or Marita Valencia, 535-6756, with any questions.


Barns committee to discuss plans for next year’s fair


The Save the Barns Committee plans to meet at 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, in the Six 18 Coffee Shop, 618 W. Main St. Among agenda items are plans for next year’s fair. The meeting is open to the public.


Writer’s group to meet Sept. 22


The Lewistown Writer’s Group will meet Thursday, Sept.22, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at 712 7th Ave. North, Lewistown. Maxine Melton will be hosting the group this week.

LWG is a collaboration of Central Montana writers who meet on the second Saturday and fourth Thursday of the month. It is a non-profit resource for writers of all genres and skill levels. Members include published authors as well as those who like to write for enjoyment.


Silver Sage to play at Senior Dance


The Silver Sage Country Band is scheduled to play for the Sept 24, Saturday afternoon dance. The band features Lloyd McKenna on mandolin and guitar, Meryl McKenna on piano, Barbara Engle on bass guitar and Don Engle on lead guitar. All will participate in harmony vocals.

 The dance goes from 2 to 4 p.m. with a short coffee/cookie break at 3 p.m. Dancers of all ages are welcome.  The dance hall is located at the corner of Third Ave. S. and Barnes St. There is a small admission fee.

If you like to write, or be in the company of writers, come join us. If you want to share a piece of your work, bring eight copies.
