Brooks Hall ‘mall’ craft fair opens

 

Fall, Halloween and Christmas craft items and gifts will be on offer Saturday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The assortment of goodies includes woodworking, wood burning from Maria Tresch Whitcraft, china paint, homemade soap, Halloween decorations, lots and lots of items, jewelry and horseshoe decorations. Christina Busy Bee’s will be having a bake sale, and there will be homemade chicken soup. 

 

Lewistown “unplugs” for acoustic jam

 

An acoustic music jam session has been scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the reading room of the Eagles Club, 124 West Main Street in Lewistown. Take your acoustic instrument out of its case and be a participant in the jam session.

The emphasis of the second Tuesday of the month sessions is on bluegrass, folk, western, Celtic and other appropriate music genre. All skill levels are welcome to participate. Call 366-4560 for more information.

District 9 American Legion and Auxiliary members will meet in Harlowton on Sunday, Oct. 9. Call Mae Rosman at 423-5591 for more details.

In addition, the American Legion Auxiliary 76 will meet at the home of Nell Blair on Monday, Oct. 10 at 1:30 p.m.

 

Central Montana Learning Resource Center Cooperative meets Tuesday 

 

The CMLRCC will meet Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 10 a.m. in the Lincoln School Boardroom at 215 Seventh Avenue South in Lewistown. Items to be discussed include calendar items, concerns, correspondence, professional development, CSPD scholarships, pre-ETS funding, vehicle update and various reports.

This meeting is open to the public. The next meeting is planned for Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 10 a.m.

 

Hobson American Legion to meet Tuesday

 

American Legion Post 76 in Hobson will hold a regular meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. at City Hall. For more information, contact Clay Killham at 423-5335.

 

Autism/Asperger parent support group meets

 

Are you a parent or family member of a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Asperger Syndrome? Are you interested in joining with other parents and family members who share your experiences? The Central Montana Learning Resource Center Cooperative would like to invite you to join us for our monthly meeting. It will be held at the Lincoln building, 215 Seventh Avenue South, in the conference room at 6 p.m. on Tuesday Oct. 11.

Central MT Fair Rodeo Committee to meet  Tuesday

 

A meeting of the Central Montana Fair’s Rodeo Committee will be held at 6 p.m., Oct. 11, in the Trade Center. Items to be discussed include sponsorship packages, advertising, posters, special events, arena sound, flags and banners, move Cooley Arena, infield sanitation, and the budget. This meeting is open to the public.

 

Fibre Arts fans: the Central Montana Guild will meet Oct. 13

 

The Central Montana Fibre Arts Guild will meet on Oct. 13 at the Celebration Community Fellowship Church, 361 West Frontage Road on Highway 87.

At 6:30 p.m. is Show and Tell time, at 7 p.m. is the business meeting, and at 7:30 p.m. is the program. At 5 p.m., those who wish may join us to dine at El Rancho Alegre.

As the presenter of the Old Lost Quilt Pattern was unable to be at the September meeting, the program will be at the October meeting.

Please bring an 8-inch square of muslin, a 3-inch square of printed or solid color fabric, thread, needle and scissors.

 

Lewistown Writers to meet Saturday

 

The Lewistown Writer’s Group will meet Saturday, Oct. 8, at 1:30 p.m. in the Lewistown Public Library. LWG is a collaboration of Central Montana writers who meet on the second Saturday and fourth Thursday of the month. It is a non-profit resource for writers of all genres and skill levels. Members include published authors as well as those who like to write for enjoyment.

If you like to write, or be in the company of writers, come join us. If you want to share a piece of your work, bring eight copies.

 

Fergus County Port Authority will meet Oct. 12

 

On Tuesday, Oct. 12, the Fergus County Port Authority will meet 8 a.m. in the Sheriff’s Office basement.

The agenda will include: Approval of last meeting minutes; Financial report; Request to back purchase of the Powers Mercantile building; Berg Property housing development; Business park; Town and Country meeting recap; and Election of officers.

This meeting is open to the public.

 

Lewistown Public Schools board meeting to be held Oct. 10

 

The Lewistown Public School Board of Trustees will hold their “regular business” meeting on Monday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. in the Lincoln Board Room located at 215 Seventh Avenue South in Lewistown. Items to be discussed include calendar items, concerns, correspondence, a presentation by Matt Lewis, Garfield Elementary Principal, mechanic salary matrix and the solar energy grant. Spirits from the Vault

 

Beware... The vault has cracked open. Spirits of all sizes and shapes are escaping. Those brave enough to come down to the corner of Main Street and Fifth Avenue, on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. will have the thrill of their live... venturing across the threshold into the old Judith Basin Bank, filled with eerie sounds, cool drafts and looming shapes, making the hair on you neck stand on end.

Scary, spooky and yet fun... The Vault is a new Halloween experience produced by the Lewistown Downtown Association. Come down to the Vault and “bank” with us, only a small deposit will be required for admittance. Escaping will be your problem. *NOT recommended for small children

 

Rotary Club to move meeting location

 

The Lewistown Rotary Club will have a new location for its Monday meetings. Beginning on Monday, Oct. 17, the Rotary Club will meet at Pine Meadows Golf Course. The meeting will continue to be at noon on Mondays. 

 

Little Belt Snowmobile Club cleans up

 

The Little Belt Snowmobile Club will have a ditch cleanup at 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 10 at the Hobson turn-off. There will be a meeting to follow at Bernard Taylor’s at 7:30 p.m. Come join us for calendar year activities. Next month is membership signup. For further info, contact Karl Thomas at 535-8126.

Garfield Elementary School Principal will give a presentation on goal setting for grades kindergarten and first. 

In other business items the board will approve out-of-district student attendance requests, approve FHS student activity account for the Astronomy Club, approve an increase to the mechanic salary matrix, approve request to apply for the solar energy grant and approve additions to the substitute list for the current school year. 

 

Have a blast with and Strings this Saturday

 

Come and dance to the country band, Wind and Strings, on the Oct. 8 Saturday afternoon dance. The band features Tom Wilson on harmonica, Carole Songer on vocals, Tony Hencil on dobro and Woodie Westburg on guitar and vocals.

The dance hall is located at the corner of Third Avenue South and Barnes Street. The dance goes from 2 to 4 p.m. Dancers of all ages are welcome.

There will be a coffee/cookie break at 3 p.m. There is a small admission fee. 2
