Fergus County Commissioners meet today


The Board of Fergus County Commissioners will hold their regular business meeting today  Wednesday, Oct. 26, in the Fergus County Commissioners’ Office (712 West Main Street, Suite 210) in Lewistown at 2 p.m. Items on the agenda include personnel announcements, approval of Oct. 25 claims, the Delaney Conservation Easement and the Comprehensive Capital Improvements Plan. This meeting is open to the public. 


Lewistown Writer’s Group to meet Thursday


The Lewistown Writer’s Group will meet Thursday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at 712 Seventh Avenue North, in Lewistown. Maxine Melton will be hosting the group this week.

LWG is a collaboration of central Montana writers who meet on the second Saturday and fourth Thursday of the month. It is a non-profit resource for writers of all genres and skill levels. Members include published authors as well as those who like to write for enjoyment.

If you like to write, or be in the company of writers, come join us. If you want to share a piece of your work, bring eight copies.


Nosh on nachos ‘til the food is gone


The American Legion Auxiliary is hosting a Nacho Bar on Friday, Oct. 28 from 5:30 p.m. until the food is gone at the American Legion Club, 402 West Main Street. All interested persons in renewing or joining the American Legion Auxiliary or American Legion Family are encouraged to attend.

There will be members to greet you, and who will explain our mission and what the American Legion Family can offer you. There are many member discounts available to members as well as a chance to serve our veterans within a purposeful and meaningful structure. The community service is geared to our local community so your dollars stay here. This event is open to the public.


Arts group to hear report on successful membership party


The Lewistown Arts and Entertainment District Board will meet at noon on Friday, Oct. 28, in the Chokecherry Lane Mall, 311 West Main Street. Agenda items include a report on the successful membership drive Halloween party last Sunday. 

The event attracted 65 people to hear local band music and eat. One menu item was ghoul-lash. The A and E added 14 members and raised over $500. The meeting this Friday is open to the public.


Hilger Christmas Bazaar runs Nov. 5-6


On the first weekend in November the Hilger Community Corp. will be having a Christmas Bazaar at the former Hilger School. The Bazaar will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6.

The Bazaar will be set up on a consignment basis rather than renting a table. This means that you bring your items to the Hilger School on Nov. 3 or 4; we display it and sell it and you receive a check for all sold items the second week of November.
