Airport Board to meet today


Lewistown Municipal Airport Board to meet Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 3 p.m. in the Airport Terminal Meeting Room. Items to be discussed include claims, public comment, the airport manager’s report, the MMI engineering report, Bus Barn and more. The public is welcome. The next Board meeting will be Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 3 p.m.


Book fairs start today at elementary schools


Lewistown’s elementary schools will host Scholastic book fairs on Wednesday, Nov. 2 and Thursday, Nov. 3, during parent-teacher conferences. Funds raised help purchase bookss for the elemetary libraries.  Families, faculty and the community can attend this fun reading event, helping inspire children to become life long readers.

The fairs take place from 4-7 p.m. today, Wednesday, and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, at Garfield, Highland Park and Lewis and Clark elementaries.


Educational Opportunities for Central Montana to hold annual meeting


The Annual Meeting of Educational Opportunities for Central Montana is scheduled to be held Thursday, Nov. 10, at 12 p.m. at the Central Montana Education Center on Airport Road. Agenda items include: an update on the Central Montana Education Center and MSU-Northern Lewistown, election of officers and board members, and the annual report of activities for 2015-2016. The meeting is open to the public.


Fair’s Rodeo Committee to meet Nov. 3


A meeting of the Central Montana Fair’s Rodeo Committee will be held at 6 p.m., Nov. 3, in the Ag building. Items on the agenda include posters, special events, flags and banners, steer tripping and more. This meeting is open to the public.


It’s Fibre Thursday again


The Central Montana Fibre Guild meets at 7 p. m. every second Thursday, except for July and August, at the Celebration Community Fellowship Church, 361 West Frontage Road on Highway 87. At 6 :30 p. m. is Show and Tell time, business meeting at 7 p. m., with the program at 7:30.

At 5 p. m., those who wish to, dine at a local restaurant, Little Big Men.

This meeting’s program is holiday cards. Bring stickers if you have them. There will be kits for you to make a card.


Move to the groove this Saturday


The Groovy Gaffers will provide the music for the Saturday afternoon dance on Nov. 5. The band features Laurie Lohrer on vocals, Dave Robertson, Don and Barb Engle on guitars and vocals. The dance goes from 2 to 4 p.m. with a short coffee cookie break at 3 p.m.

If you enjoy dancing to good country music, come and join in the fun. Dancers of all ages are welcome. The club building is located at the corner of Third Avenue South and Barnes Street. There is a small admission fee.



St. Leo’s 23rd annual Sharing Food Drive to happen this weekend


The annual St. Leo Parish Sharing Sunday Food Drive for the Central MT Community Cupboard is this coming weekend, Nov. 5 and 6.

This effort, in its 23rd year, is a way for the parish to share with others in need in Central Montana.

Church members are encouraged to bring food items, or personal care items such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste and others to the church services this weekend. Monetary donations are always welcome also.

For those members not able to attend on Nov. 5 and 6, items can be left at the Parish Center during the week during office hours.

During 2015 The Community Cupboard distributed over 100,000 pounds of food, which averages to nearly four tons per month.

The Cupboard, located at 322 West Broadway, is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. till noon each day.


Remember family and friends through Zion’s All Saints Day


Zion Lutheran Church, 604 West Evelyn, will host a Service of Remembrance on All Saints Sunday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. Through song, prayers, and candle lighting worshipers will remember family members and friends who have died since last All Saints Day and in years past. This service is open to the community. Refreshments will be served. For more information contact the church office, 538-5082.


There’s always room for improvement


Lewistown Improvement District will meet Monday, Nov. 14, at 8 a.m. in the SMDC conference room, 613 Northeast Main, Lewistown. Agenda items include: Minutes, financial status, public comments, investment plan, applications, commission name change, staff reports and other items. This meeting is open to the public.

Please note - the group won’t be meeting on Nov. 28 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
