Educational Opportunities for Central Montana to hold annual meeting


The Annual Meeting of Educational Opportunities for Central Montana is scheduled to be held Thursday, Nov. 10, at 12 p.m. at the Central Montana Education Center on Airport Road. Agenda items include: an update on the Central Montana Education Center and MSU-Northern Lewistown, election of officers and board members, and the annual report of activities for 2015-2016. The meeting is open to the public.


Move to the groove today


The Groovy Gaffers will provide the music for the Saturday afternoon dance on Nov. 5. The band features Laurie Lohrer on vocals, Dave Robertson, and Don and Barb Engle on guitars and vocals. The dance goes from 2 to 4 p.m. with a short coffee cookie break at 3 p.m.

If you enjoy dancing to good country music, come and join in the fun. Dancers of all ages are welcome. The club building is located at the corner of Third Avenue South and Barnes Street. There is a small admission fee.


NAMI to host jail-n-bail event Wednesday


On Wednesday, Nov. 9, Doc’s Casino Sports Bar and Grill will host the National Alliance on Mental Illness Jail-N-Bail event to help raise money to bring community awareness of mental illness and suicide prevention to Lewistown’s adults and children. TBID to consider billboards,

 hunting and fishing brochures


The next TBID meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. in the SMDC Conference Room. Items to be discussed include: marketing activity; community billboard participation; participation in upcoming travel shows; reprinting of Central Montana Hunting and Fishing brochures; insurance policy renewal and more.

Please note that this meeting is scheduled on a Wednesday rather than the normal meeting day (Tuesday). This meeting is open to the public.


City Commission  looks at Arts and Entertainment District, Kiwanis Park


The Lewistown City Commission’s Committee of the Whole will see a video presentation from the Arts and Entertainment District at 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7. The COW will also hear from the A&E District about Operation Clean Sweep.

Following the COW meeting, the City Commission will hold a regular business meeting at 7 p.m. in the Central Montana Community Center, located at 307 West Watson in Lewistown. Items on the agenda include progress of grant to rehabilitate housing for low to moderate income households, possible termination of the City of Lewistown’s phone system maintenance agreement with Industrial Communications and Electronics; awarding snow hauling bids; and possible memorandum of understanding between the Montana Department of Transportation and the City of Lewistown to receive funding for the maintenance of the Kiwanis Park public rest area.

The meeting is open to the public. 


Port Authority to meet on Wednesday

The Fergus County Port Authority will meet Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 8 a.m. in the basement meeting room of the Fergus County Sheriff’s Complex.

Agenda items include: revised mission statement; nominating committee to seek a new member to fill out the board; recent activity relating to possible business development in Lewistown and Fergus County; upcoming annual meeting and planning session; Review financial position; and discussion on how best to work with and support other economic development activities in the area.






The Port Authority is in the process of reforming with two new board members – Bret Carpenter and Dave Byerly – and another opening that needs to be filled. Carry-over board members are Dan Bartel, Tom McKenna, Bob Steinmann, Pete Peterson, Karen Kuhlmann and Terry Atkinson.
