Greytak calendars available


2017 Don Greytak Calendars are now available at the MSU Fergus County Extension Office, located behind the courthouse in Lewistown. Proceeds benefit both the Montana 4-H Foundation and the local 4-H program. 


Farm Service Agency to meet Dec. 12


Farm Service Agency will be having an informational meeting specifically for beginning farmers and ranchers and those interested in learning more about the commodity, livestock, disaster and loan programs offered by Farm Service Agency. If you are interested in learning more, please come to our informational meeting on Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. If you know of anyone that might be interested, please pass along this information.

The informational meeting will be held in the Farm Service Agency Conference Room. The Farm Service Agency office is located at 211 McKinley Street. If you cannot make the meeting, please feel free to visit or call the office at 538-3489, extension 2, for more information about our programs. This meeting is open to the public. 


ACT help math session offered Dec. 6


Mary Jo and Jim Hamling will be offering a help session for the upcoming ACT test. This session is free of charge and any student taking the Saturday, Dec. 10 test is encouraged to attend.

The help session will be Tuesday, Dec. 6. The session will go from 7-8 p.m. and will meet in Room 108 at Fergus High School. Students attending will need to bring a pencil and calculator. Sample ACT problems are provided with help in solving these problems if needed.

High school students entering the Montana University System are required to have an overall 22 score on the ACT. If this number is not met, students may have to pay for and take a remedial course that will not count towards graduation. Students doing well on the test will qualify for scholarships.


Hospice Ceremony to be held on Dec. 15


The Hospice Tree of Lights Ceremony will take place on Thursday, Dec. 15, at 6 p.m. at the CMMC’s Medical Arts Building. The public is invited to join Hospice in the “Remembrance Chime Ceremony.”


Lewistown Municipal Airport Board to meet Dec. 7


Lewistown Municipal Airport Board will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 3 p.m. in the Airport Terminal Meeting Room. Items to be discussed include the airport manager’s report, the Montana Aeronautics Grant application, the soccer field and public comments. The next meeting will be held Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at 3 p.m. This meeting is open to the public.


Fibre Arts Guild to have Christmas potluck


Central Montana Fibre Arts Guild will have a potluck Christmas party at Kitty Hagemann’s home on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m., at 712 West Broadway in Lewistown. There will be a Christmas tree ornament exchange.


The Festival of Trees celebration continues today


The Festival of Trees is just around the corner. The event begins with a Nite with the Claus’ on Friday, Dec. 2, 6-8 p.m. Sponsored by the Central Montana Jaycees, little ones can enjoy sweet treats, get photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus and write a letter to Santa. Admission is the donation of a teddy bear for a special tree to be auctioned Saturday.

Saturday, Dec. 3, begins with a preview of trees and goodies from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission to the preview is a good will offering of decorative duct tape to be used for a kids project at the Boys and Girls Club. Put your name on the inside of the roll to be entered into a drawing for $500 cash from the Greater Montana Land Company.

The auction is Saturday evening, beginning with a social hour, pasta bar and raffles at 5:15 p.m. The live auction is at 7:15 p.m. Following the live auction is a grand silent auction, grand raffle and Jingle Bell Jam, featuring Mandy Eike. Tickets for the auction are available at Don’s Store and First Bank of Montana. All proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Club. The events take place at the Trade Center in the Fergus County Fairgrounds.


Scripts, venues and equipment on tap for JMP meetings


The Judith Mountain Players script reading group will meet Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 5:30 p.m. in the Lewistown Public Library upstairs meeting room. The purpose of the group is to consider plays for possible future productions. The public is invited to participate.

The JMP Board will meet Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 5:15 p.m. in the library’s upstairs meeting room. Possible venues for a future production will be considered along with equipment purchases. The public is invited.

Kids party at the Moose is like Christmas with Santa


The annual Kids Christmas Party at the Moose will be held Saturday, Dec. 10, at 6 p.m. in the Moose Lodge dining room.

Kids can have their picture taken with Santa to take home as a souvenir. Sloppy Joes will be available. Young folks should bring their parents. Fun will be had for all.


New Zealander to speak at Denton Rod and Gun Club


On Tuesday, Dec. 13, Derek Cross of New Zealand will speak at the Denton Rod and Gun Club on New Zealand hunting and wildlife. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. For more information, contact Rod Boling at 567-2608. Everyone is welcome.
