Tree of Lights ceremony is Dec. 15

 

The Hospice Tree of Lights Ceremony will take place on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. at the CMMC’s Medical Arts Building. The public is invited to join Hospice in the “Remembrance Chime Ceremony.”

 

LDA to meet Dec. 14

 

Just a quick note to remind ewveryone of the upcoming LDA Planning and Board meetings, scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 14 at the Brooks Conference Room. The Planning meeting will be held at 1 p.m. and the Board meeting at 2 p.m.

This meeting is open to the public.

 

Montana Farmers Union to host mock legislative hearing

 

In anticipation of the upcoming legislative session, Montana Farmers Union is pleased to partner with area legislators to host a mock legislative hearing. A committee of legislators will hear a proposal to add “agritourism and on-farm educational opportunities to the list of Montana recreational activities in which participants assume liability for the inherent risks of those activities.”

The mock hearing will be on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 6:30 p.m. at the Family Living Center, Montana Expo Park, in Great Falls.

This hearing is designed to be an educational opportunity open to the public. Those wishing to submit testimony for this mock hearing can contact Chris Christiaens at the MFU office, (406) 452-6406.

 

Port Authority to meet Dec. 14

 

The Port Authority Board will hold its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 8 a.m. in the conference room at Stockman Bank. The Board will discuss  long- and short-term goals for the economic development of Fergus County.

The meeting is open to the public. 

 

New Zealander to speak at Denton Rod and Gun Club

 

On Tuesday, Dec. 13, Derek Cross of New Zealand will speak at the Denton Rod and Gun Club on New Zealand hunting and wildlife. 

The event starts at 7:30 p.m. For more information, contact Rod Boling at 567-2608. Everyone is welcome.

 

Be slick on the dance floor 

 

The Silver Sage Country Band is scheduled to play for the Dec. 10, Saturday afternoon dance. The band features Lloyd McKenna on mandolin and guitar, Meryl McKenna on piano, Barbara Engle on bass guitar and Don Engle on lead guitar. All will participate in harmony vocals.

The dance goes from 2 to 4 p.m. with a short coffee/cookie break at 3 p.m. Dancers of all ages are welcome.

The dance hall is located at the corner of Third Avenue South and Barnes Street. There is a small admission fee.

 

Lewistown Municipal Airport Board to meet today

 

Lewistown Municipal Airport Board will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 3 p.m. in the Airport Terminal Meeting Room. Items to be discussed include the airport manager’s report, the Montana Aeronautics Grant application, the soccer field and public comments. The next meeting will be held Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017 at 3 p.m. This meeting is open to the public.

 

Farm Bureau to host holiday open house

 

Fergus County Farm Bureau and the Farm Bureau Insurance agents will be hosting a holiday open house at the Farm Bureau Insurance office on Dec. 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. All members and their guests are invited to come and enjoy some holiday cheer.

Farm Service Agency will be having an informational meeting specifically for beginning farmers and ranchers and those interested in learning more about the commodity, livestock, disaster, and loan programs offered by Farm Service Agency. If you are interested in learning more, please come to our informational meeting on Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. If you know of anyone that might be interested, please pass along this information regarding the upcoming informational meeting.

The informational meeting will be held in the Farm Service Agency Conference Room at 2 p.m. Farm Service Agency Office is located at 211 McKinley Street, Lewistown. If you cannot make the informational meeting, please feel free to visit or call the office at 538-3489, extension 2, for more information about our programs. This meeting is open to the public.
