Groovy Gaffers to play Saturday dance The Groovy Gaffers will provide the music for the Saturday Afternoon Dance on Jan. 28. The band features Lauri Lohrer on vocals, and Dave Robertson, Don and Barb Engle on guitars and vocals. The dance goes from 2 to 4 p.m. with a short coffee cookie break at 3 p.m. If you enjoy dancing to good country music, come and join in the fun. Dancers of all ages are welcome. The club building is located at the corner of Third Ave. S. and Barnes St. There is a small admission fee. Square dance group dances Thursday The square dance group with caller Jayson Shobe will dance on Thursday, Jan. 26, 6:45 pm at the Dance Hall on the corner of 3rd and Barnes St. Dress is casual. Bring a new dancer or two – beginners are welcome. Writers group to meet Thursday, Jan. 26 The Lewistown Writer’s Group will meet Thursday, Jan. 26, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at 712 Seventh Avenue North, in Lewistown. Maxine Melton will be hosting the group this week. LWG is a collaboration of Central Montana writers who meet on the second Saturday and fourth Thursday of the month. It is a non-profit resource for writers of all genres and skill levels. Members include published authors as well as those who like to write for enjoyment. If you like to write, or be in the company of writers, come join us. If you want to share a piece of your work, bring eight copies. A and E District board to discuss fundraiser The Lewistown Arts and Entertainment District Association Board will meet at 9 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, in the Brooks Market restaurant, 104 Second Avenue South, in Lewistown. Items to be discussed include a fundraiser featuring the Charlie Denison band. The meeting is open to the public. County Commissioners hold business meeting today The Board of Fergus County Commissioners will hold their regular business meeting today, Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 1 p.m. in the Fergus County commissioners’ office on the second floor of the courthouse. Items on the agenda include a public hearing pertaining to the declaration of the existence of a county road known as McKinley Avenue; personnel and board openings announcements; and various appointments. This meeting is open to the public. Eat, greet and meet with the Heath Rural Fire District It’s time again for the Heath Rural Fire District annual meeting and potluck on Monday, Feb. 6. The potluck will start at 6 p.m. and the meeting at 7 p.m. at Heath Hall. Come to the potluck to enjoy social time with your neighbors and come to the meeting to hear a review of 2016 and plans for 2017. Please bring a dish of your choice and bring a place setting.
