Fergus County Fair Board to meet Feb. 21 The regular monthly meeting of the Fergus County Fair Board will be held at 5:30 p.m., Feb. 21, in the lobby of the Trade Center. Topics for discussion include the horse show, the rodeo, use of gate funds, and Long’s Livestock. The next regular Board meeting will be March 21. This meeting is open to the public. Turner to host ALA 76 meeting American Legion Auxiliary 76 will meet at the Hobson Senior Center on Feb. 13 at 1:30 p.m. with Joyce Turner as hostess. Community members are welcome. Fair Entertainment Committee to meet Feb. 20 A meeting of the Central Montana Fair’s Entertainment Committee will be held at 5:30 p.m., Feb. 20, in the Trade Center. Topics for discussion include a question/answer session, a meet and greet and goals. This meeting is open to the public. Local Emergency Planning Committee to meet Feb. 9 On Thursday, Feb. 9 from 12–1 p.m. the Local Emergency Planning Committee will meet to discuss Red Cross, 911 paging sites and webinar for Code Red, pipeline response annex and other business. This meeting will be held in the County Complex at 121 Eighth Avenue South. The next meeting will be on March 9 in the City Complex. This meeting is open to the public. Public meeting on Big Spring Creek PCB cleanup Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks will hold a meeting at 7 p.m., Feb. 13 at the Fish, Wildlife and Parks office, 215 West Aztec Drive in Lewistown to discuss the completion of the cleanup of PCBs in Big Spring Creek in Central Montana. Cleanup of the creek took place from 2011–2013 and involved suction dredging of the top six inches of 2.8 miles of the streambed. Cost of the stream cleanup alone came to $3.1 million, which was paid for by Monsanto through a settlement agreement. Besides FWP, the Montana Department of Environmental Quality and federal Environmental Protection Agency will be represented at the meeting. EPA officials will announce the dredging efforts have successfully met their cleanup standards. Public comment will be taken during the meeting. Agency representatives will also give a brief history of the project and short presentations showing how PCB levels in sediments and fish have declined following cleanup activities. Teen Republican Club meeting to be held The Fergus County Republican Central Committee will host a meeting 5:30 p.m., Feb. 14, at the Bank Electric Building, fourth Floor conference room, 505 West Main Street, in Lewistown, to establish a teenage republicans club. Young men and women 13-18 years old are encouraged to attend. The purpose of the Teens Republican Club is to provide young men and women with an opportunity to find recognition by expressing themselves politically; a place to socialize with likeminded patriotic conservatives; and an opportunity to become highly informed about the Republican Party and the Constitution of the United States of America. For more information, contact us on Lewistown Writers to meet Saturday The Lewistown Writer’s Group will meet Saturday, Feb. 11, at 1:30 p.m. in the Lewistown Public Library. LWG is a collaboration of Central Montana writers who meet on the second Saturday and fourth Thursday of the month. It is a non-profit resource for writers of all genres and skill levels. Members include published authors as well as those who like to write for enjoyment. If you like to write, or be in the company of writers, come join us.
