Spring Fever gun competition today at 10 a.m.

 

The Central Montana Shooting Complex (520 Lime Kiln Road) is hosting a Spring Fever three-gun (pistol, rifle and shotgun), four-stage competition today, Saturday, March 25, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sign-up begins at 10 a.m. with shooting to follow (at 10:30 a.m.). There is an entry fee. Proceeds help fund the 2017 Top Shot Championship to be held in August.

 

First Christian Church to host Red Cross Blood Drive

 

First Christian Church of Lewistown, located at 103 12th Avenue South, will host an American Red Cross Lewistown Community Blood Drive on Monday, April 3. The drive will start at noon and close at 6 p.m.

Free preschool clinic in Denton on March 31

 

The Denton School District, in conjunction with the Central Montana Learning Resource Center Cooperative, S.T.E.P. and Head Start, will be sponsoring a free preschool clinic at the school for children aged birth to pre-kindergarten on Friday, March 31.

Children aged 3-5 will have their hearing, vision, speech/language and development screened. The Ages and Stages questionnaire will be administered to children aged birth to five years to help gauge the child’s development and potential problems. In addition to the screening, S.T.E.P. will coordinate with individual schools for children aged birth to 35 months. At conclusion, results of all applied screenings and interpretation of the questionnaire will be discussed with the parents/guardians.

For children eligible to enroll in kindergarten in the fall, an academic screen will also be conducted. Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to have their children take part in this screening to identify possible problem areas for their children. Appointments can be made by calling the school at (406) 567-2270.

 

Fair Entertainment Committee to meet Thursday

 

A meeting of the Central Montana Fair’s Entertainment Committee will be held at 5:30 p.m., March 30 in the Trade Center. Items to be discussed include concerns/ideas, advertising and a “meet and greet.”

This meeting is open to the public.

 

Montana Pulse Advisory Committee meeting Friday, April 7

 

The Montana Pulse Advisory Committee will meet at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 7 in Helena at the Montana Department of Agriculture (302 North Roberts) in room 225. Old is the “new” New

 

A historic building renovations workshop will be held Thursday and Friday, March 30 and 31, in the Eagles Hall in Lewistown. The March 30 workshop goes from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the March 31 workshop goes from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The workshops will include tours of properties for sale or lease.

Pavilion Committee to meet Monday, April 3

 

A meeting of the Fergus County Pavilion Committee will be held at 5:30 p.m., April 3, in the Trade Center. Items to be discussed include arena dust control, misuse of riding-unpaid riders, locking for arena hydrants, and riding program policies and procedures.

This meeting is open to the public.

 

Wind and Strings headline today’s afternoon dance

 

Come and dance to the country band Wind and Strings at today’s Saturday afternoon dance. The band features Tom Wilson on harmonica, Carole Songer on vocals, Barbara Burley on piano, Tony Hencil on dobro and Woodie Westburg on guitar and vocals.

The dance hall is located at the corner of Third Avenue South and Barnes Street. The dance goes from 2 to 4 p.m. Dancers of all ages are welcome.

There will be a coffee/cookie break at 3 p.m. There is a small admission fee.

 

“Buddy” Walton Memorial Trap Shoot to be held in Denton

 

The “Buddy” Walton Memorial Trap Shoot will be held at the Denton Rod and Gun Club in Denton on April 1, with practice starting at 11 a.m. and the shoot beginning at noon.

This year marks the 19th year of the annual Buddy Walton Trap Shoot in Denton. All proceeds from the lunch go to the youth shooting program. Shooting may continue into the night, as the club has lights. Questions, please call Orville McCracken at (406) 462-5678 or Rod Boling at (406) 567-2608.
