Art Center Board of Directors holds annual meeting

 

The Lewistown Art Center made its mark on the Central Montana community 45 years ago, and once again it’s time to welcome members and the public to hear about what the Art Center has done this past year, what the plans are for the future, and to meet the board of directors. The meeting is Thursday, Aug. 18, at 5 p.m. at the Art Center. For more information, call the Art Center at 535-8278. 

 

 

CMR working group meets to finalize work plan 

 

The Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge Community Working Group will meet on Aug. 25 in Fort Peck at the Fort Peck Interpretive Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Join us as we finalize our work plan for the group in 2016, followed by updates on the Montana Sage Grouse Conservation Plan, the CMR CWG’s Conservation Menu, and potential research projects in the area.

Lunch is available for a fee.

The public is encouraged to attend and provide input as the group seeks to influence the vitality and sustainability of the six-county region surrounding the CMR.

Cub Scout Day Camp is Aug. 18

 

Cub Scout Day Camp is Thursday, Aug. 18, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The camp will be held at the K-M Scout Ranch, loated 20 miles north of Lewistown in the North Moccasin Mountains, and is free for all Cub Scouts and friends. Scouts are encouraged to bring a buddy; participants do not need to be registered in scouting to attend. Parents are encouaged to participate. All participants should bring a lunch, sun protection and dress apprpriate for outdoor activities. Scout uniforms are not required. Boys going into 1st-5th grades are welcome. Economic Affairs Interim Committee meets in Helena

 

The Economic Affairs Interim Committee will close out its 2015-2016 interim Aug.30-31 with reviews of agency legislation and potential committee legislation related to its studies of air ambulances and licensing boards and its other activities.

Drafts of possible committee legislation along with information about reports and agency legislation will be posted on the committee website as they become available.

A Grazing Management and Monitoring Workshop will be held Tuesday, Aug. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at Torgerson’s Conference Room, 90 Cottonwood Creek Rd, Lewistown. The workshop is sponsored by NRCS and the Fergus Conservation District. Call 538-7401 x 101 to RSVP.  

 

 

Senior dance for Aug. 13 cancelled

 

The Aug. 13, Saturday afternoon Senior Citizen dance has been cancelled in support of Cowboy Poetry. The dance schedule will resume on Aug. 20. 

 

Learning Resource Center Cooperative Center board meets Wednesday

The Central Montana Learning Resource Center Cooperative board meets Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 9:45 a.m. at Lincoln School. Items on the agenda include claims, reorganization of the board, public participation, Director’s report, extended school year contract, travel stipend, contract reduction, Trustees financial summary report, 2016-17 budget and flow through requests. The meeting is open to the public.
