Arts group to discuss next project after benches


The Lewistown Arts and Entertainment District Association Board will meet at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 26, in the second floor conference room of the Brooks Building on Main Street. The group will discuss the completion of the bench project and start of the project to put up 30 banners on Main Street. The meeting is open to the public.


Fergus County commissioners meet this afternoon


The Board of Fergus County Commissioners meets today, Wednesday, May 24, at 2 p.m. Items on the agenda include approval of May 25 claims. The meeting is open to the public.


Celebrate spring with fried chicken


Come celebrate spring by enjoying the annual fried chicken dinner at the Grass Range United Methodist Church on Sunday, June 4. Serving will be from 12 (noon)-2 p.m. Dinner will include mashed potatoes, cream gravy, full salad bar, homemade rolls, and all topped off with a generous piece of homemade pie.

Proceeds from this dinner are used to award scholarships to GRHS graduating seniors and to help fund the annual Vacation Bible School June 6 – 8.

Share a ride with some friends and enjoy the beautiful green landscape. There’ll also be a drawing for a quilted wallhanging.


American Legion to hold Memorial Day services and dinner


The Judith Gap American Legion Post No. 70 will hold Memorial Day services at the Buffalo/Straw cemetery at 9:15 a.m., at the UBet Cemetery, weather permitting, at 9:45 a.m., and at the Judith Gap Cemetery at 11:15 a.m. on May 29. The Judith Gap American Legion Auxiliary will hold its Memorial Day Dinner at the Judith Gap Methodist Church at 11:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.


Tester to host Farm Bill Listening Sessions in Lewistown


U.S. Senator Jon Tester will continue his Barnstormin’ Farm Bill Listening Tour with an event in Lewistown on Friday, May 26, 4:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m., Lewistown Public Library Meeting Room, 701 West Main Street.

The Farm Bill expires in Sept. 2018, but the process for writing the next Farm Bill is already underway. Tester previously held Farm Bill listening sessions in Billings, the Flathead and Missoula.


Visitor Center incorporation to be discussed Friday


A subcommittee of the Lewistown Historic Resources Commission and the Central Montana Historical Association will meet on Friday, May 26, from 12:45-1:45 p.m. at the meeting room above Brooks Market. The main topic will be the proposed Central Montana Western Heritage Site and the possibility of incorporating it into a Visitor Center. This meeting is open to the public.


Wind and Strings to perform at Saturday’s afternoon dance


Come and dance to the country band, Wind and Strings, at the May 27 Saturday afternoon dance. The band features Tom Wilson on harmonica, Carole Songer on vocals, Barbara Burley on piano, Tony Hencil on dobro and Woodie Westburg on guitar and vocals.

The dance hall is located at the corner of Third Avenue South and Barnes Street. The dance goes from 2 to 4 p.m. Dancers of all ages are welcome.

There will be a coffee/cookie break at 3 p.m. There is a small admission fee.
