4X4 Club meets today at the Eagles


The C’MON 4X4 Club will meet Wednesday, June 21, today, at 6:30 p.m. in the Eagles Club. We have weekend campout runs planned for both June and July. The group invites anyone interested to join them for more information.


Arts and Entertainment board to hear progress report on parklet


The Lewistown Arts and Entertainment District Association Board will meet at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 23, in the second floor conference room of the Brooks Building. Now that the bench and banner projects are just about completed, the focus will be on construction and placement of a parklet on Main Street. The meeting is open to the public.


Free wellness seminar focuses on managing chronic pain


Central Montana Medical Center’s Wellness Program presents “How to Manage Chronic Pain,” a seminar with multiple speakers. Guest speakers include national pain speaker Becky Curtis, former Montana Chief Medical Examiner Gary Dale, MD, TORCH board member Joe Eckhardt and Dan Alzheimer, MD. The program will be held at Pine Meadows country club on Thursday, June 22, starting at 5:30 p.m., and is free. RSVP to the Radiology group at 535-6205.


Historic Resources group to meets Friday


The subcommittee of the Historic Resources Commission and Central Montana Historical Association is meeting this Friday, June 23, 12:45 - 1:45 p.m., in the Brooks Building second floor meeting room. The primary matter for discussion will be a brochure to be distributed at the Longest Table dinner.


Construction to begin on Horse Ranch Road Bridge


Bairco Construction, Inc. will be working on the bridge replacement of the Horse Ranch Road Bridge located on Horse Ranch Road off Hwy 191, 34 miles northeast of Lewistown. Construction is anticipated to start June 2017 and to be completed by mid-Sept. 2017.

During demolition of the existing bridge a temporary detour bridge will be set for local traffic use. Traffic control signs will be set in place for the safety of all road users.


Goove to the Gaffers at Saturday dance


The Groovy Gaffers will provide the music for the Saturday Afternoon Dance on June 24. The band features Laurie Lohrer on vocals, and Dave Robertson and Don and Barb Engle on guitars and vocals. The dance goes from 2 to 4 pm with a short coffee cookie break at 3 p.m.

If you enjoy dancing to good country music, come and join in the fun. Dancers of all ages are welcome. The club building is located at the corner of Third Ave. S. and Barnes St. There is a small admission fee.


Highwood community wildfire meeting


The Bureau of Land Management is hosting a wildfire education meeting on June 28 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Highwood Community Hall.

Members of the BLM, the Chouteau County Disaster and Emergency Services, the Chouteau County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Forest Service will share tips about wildfire preparedness and information about the BLM’s community assistance program. The agencies will also talk about defensible spaces and wildfire evacuations.
