Fergus High Class of ‘57 to celebrate 60th-year reunion


The Fergus High School Class of 1957 will celebrate its 60th-year reunion this summer with multi-day events. The alumnae will begin their activities with a no-host gathering at Jack’s Hangar on Friday, Aug. 18, at 6 p.m.

A reunion picnic for all Fergus and St. Leo’s graduates will be held on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 12 p.m. (noon) at Frank Day City Park; there is a per person charge for this catered picnic.

On Monday, Aug. 21, the annual All-Class Banquet for Fergus and St. Leo’s graduates will be held at 6 p.m. at the Old Elks Golf Course. There is a per person charge to attend.


Family fun at the annual Hilger Fire District trap shoot


On Sunday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m., the Hilger Fire District will host their annual trap shoot filled with competition, food, prizes and more. The event will be held at the Hilger Shooting Range at the junction of Hwy 191 and Winifred Hwy 236 in Hilger, Montana.

Signups for the trap shoot and super shoot will be on-site. There is a small fee per round, with cash prizes for every round.

For non-shooters, there’s still plenty of fun: Try to win a certified Angus beef package or half a hog during the event raffle. Concessions are available, including barbecue and homemade goods. All proceeds benefit the Hilger Volunteer Fire Department. Come one, come all, and show your support.


Help the Community Cupboard during Fair parade


Kids Can is once again collecting food drive donations during this year’s
Central Montana Fair parade on July 27. 

Members will use wagons and four-wheelers to gather canned goods and other nonperishable food items from the crowd. 

Donations collected during the parade will benefit the Central Montana Community Cupboard. The parade starts at 11 a.m. on Main Street.


Come groove to the Groovy Gaffers


The Groovy Gaffers will provide the music for today’s afternoon dance. The band features Dave Robertson and Don and Barb Engle on guitars and vocals. The dance goes from 2-4 p.m. with a short coffee, cookie break at 3 p.m.

If you enjoy dancing to good country music, come and join in the fun. Dancers of all ages are welcome. The club building is located at the corner of Third Avenue South and Barnes Street. There is a small admission fee.


Discuss proposed bus routes for the 2017-2018 school year


The annual meeting of the Fergus County Transportation Committee will be held Monday, July 24, at 9 a.m. in the back room of the Fergus County Superintendent of Schools Office at 712 W. Main St., Suite 104, in Lewistown.

Proposed bus routes for the 2017-2018 school year will be discussed and a vote held.

All interested persons are invited to attend.


Learn about multiple sclerosis at the Fair


Multiple Sclerosis awareness is coming to the fair. Are you curious about M.S., have a friend or family member with M.S., or have M.S. yourself? Come join us at the Trade Center stage, Friday, July 28 at 1 p.m. and listen to three great speakers.

Topics include: “What is MS?” with Erika Duffy, NP, St. Vincent’s Neuroscience; “Occupational Therapy for M.S. – How to Help,” with Heidi Mayton, master’s in Occupational Therapy; and “Meeting the Challenges of M.S.,” with Errol Rice, executive vice president at Montana Stockgrowers Association.
