Order of Eastern Star

Pfaff and Nielsen to visit Hobson, Vesper Chapter

Marlene Pfaff of Laurel, Worthy Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Montana will make her official visitation to Vesper Chapter No. 83 on Oct. 22, at 11 a.m. She will be accompanied by Worthy Grand Patron David Nielsen of Helena. All members of the Eastern Star are invited to attend.

The Order was developed in the 1860s by Dr. Rob Morris, who was honored as the Master Builder of the Eastern Star. Eastern Star is the largest fraternal organization in the world to which both men and women may belong.

The Order has over two million members with 2016-17 projects that benefit many people through donations of the Scottish Rite Speech and Language Clinics in Montana; ESTARL (Eastern Star Training Awards for Religious Leadership) Fund to assist students seeking careers in the ministry; community needs; member assistance and the Masonic Home in Helena.

The Chapel at the International Peace Garden on the border between North Dakota and Manitoba, Canada, was donated and is maintained by the Order of the Eastern Star.

Vesper Chapter 83 was chartered in 1919. The current Worthy Matron is Dorothy Brook, PGM, and Worthy Patron is Jim McCollum.

Worthy Grand Matron Marlene and Worthy Grand Patron David will preside at their “OES–What a Wonderful World” session in Billings June 14-17 to celebrate the 128th anniversary of the Montana Grand Chapter.
