Police Blotter

The following report is taken from information provided by the Lewistown Police Department and does not represent the total scope of police activity. All persons are innocent until proven guilty.

Jan. 18

• At 8:02 a.m. an officer reported the flag at the Veterans’ Park hung by a couple of threads. Area maintenance was notified.

• At 10:02 a.m. a party reported a car parked in the spot where their food truck unloads. Dispatch contacted the registered owner and she said she would move the car.

• At 12:55 p.m. a male requested to know if he could legally walk a gun down the street to a store to have the store look at it. An officer spoke with the male.

Jan. 19

• At 8:08 a.m. the McDonald’s manager reported a team bus hit the fence near the alley behind the building and left the scene. Officers located the bus driver and issued him a warning.

• At 1:05 p.m. a 911 caller reported the mother of a child had not returned the child to the caller after lunch. An officer spoke to the caller, advised him it was a child custody matter and with no parenting plan in place, the mother had the right to take the child as she was the custodial parent. The officer advised the caller to speak to an attorney and get a parenting plan in place.

• At 1:29 p.m. an off-duty officer reported a male with an outstanding warrant was seen in a vehicle on Main Street. Officers responded, arrested the male on the outstanding warrant and transported him to the Fergus County Sheriff’s detention center.

• At 4:44 p.m. a local assisted living center reported a physical altercation between two residents with no injuries. An officer was advised.

Jan. 20

• At 4:34 a.m. a 911 caller reported smoke coming from a neighboring apartment. The Lewistown Fire Department and the Police Department responded. The smoke was caused by an item left in the oven.

• At 10:16 a.m. a caller reported a two-car, noninjury accident had occurred earlier in the day. An officer responded and both drivers were cited.

• At 3:28 p.m. a caller reported a suspicious person digging in a manhole. Officers responded and spoke to the male, who advised he was just taking measurements.

Jan. 21

• At 11:42 a.m. a caller reported an outlet at her home appeared to have burned in the night. The Lewistown Fire Department responded.

Jan. 22

• At 9:47 a.m. a person requested officers respond to speak with a male who was continually bringing his dogs into an establishment after they have asked him not to. The male was gone prior to officer arrival. At 10:22 a.m. the male returned with the dog. An officer responded.

• At 11:09 a.m. a person reported he received a fraudulent call and sent the individual $400 in Amazon gift cards. An officer spoke to the person in the lobby.

• At 5:38 p.m. a person reported the street they are on is very icy and slick. Public Works was contacted.

• At 6:46 p.m. a person reported someone stole prescription medication from them. Officers responded.
