Roy-Winifred competes at Malta Invite

The Roy-Winifred girls’ and boys’ track teams competed at the Malta Athletic Club Invitational on Tuesday, April 25. The Lady Outlaws scored 22 points to finish in a tie for sixth place among the 14 teams competing in Malta. Winning the meet for the girls was Chinook with 102 points. One point behind the Lady Sugarbeeters was Malta with 101. Third place belonged to Havre with 77. The rest of the team scoring for the meet was Wolf Point 45, Frazer 38, Popular 22, Roy-Winifred 22, North Star 22, Saco 21, Harlem 21, Turner 18, Whitewater 14, Rocky boy 6, Dodson 1.
The top finisher for the Lady Outlaws was Jada Goettlich with third place in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 6:18.00. Goettlich also placed in the 800-meter run (fourth, 2:58.21) and the long jump (sixth, 14-2).
Jada Kananen placed in two events at the meet. Kananen placed fourth in the shot put with a distance of 30-8 and sixth in the discus with a throw of 94-8. Roy-Winifred’s Samantha DeMars finished in fifth place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:12.20. Rachael Simons was fifth in the 800 with a time of 3:05.67. Irene Johnson cleared 4-8 in the high jump to take sixth place.

Roy-Winifred boys score 6 points
Two Roy-Winifred boys did all the scoring for the Outlaws. Daniel Husbey was fourth in the 110-meter high hurdles at 20.01 and was sixth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.17. Marcus Acarda took sixth place in the discus with a throw of 103-6.5.
