Would you like free entry to the Central Montana Fair? Would you like a reserved seat in the shade under the grandstands where you can people watch and visit with friends and family as they pass by? These are the perks available to ice-attendant volunteers. Ice-attendants are responsible for registering ice use and unlocking the ice machine for vendors. No lifting required. Simply sit back, relax, and enjoy the crowd. Shifts available July 27-30.
Lewistown area Relay for Life is seeking volunteers to work in various roles before and during the annual Relay for Life event being held July 8. Organizers are needed in preparation for the event, as well as on the day/night the event takes place. This is a great volunteer opportunity for cancer survivors and their families and friends to honor their struggle and bring awareness to this important cause that affects so many in our community.
The Art Center is seeking volunteers, especially on Saturdays. Other organizations in need of volunteers are the library and the Community Cupboard.
The Central Montana Museum is open for the summer. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week. The museum is entirely volunteer-driven, and additional help is always welcome.
The Council on Aging is seeking additional hosts, dining room help, and dishwashers for their daily Grubstakes meal. This is a crucial service provided in Central Montana, and a meaningful volunteer opportunity. The Council on Aging is also in need of volunteer office help during the busy lunch hour.
The Red Cross is recruiting a Fergus County Disaster Action Team to respond to local emergencies such as house fires, wildfires and floods. Volunteers would serve on an on-call basis to support local agencies and authorities in the relief effort. Services provided may include arranging for emergency food, housing, clothing and transportation, as well as referrals to other resources. Training and support is provided by Red Cross of Montana.
Recycle Our Waste Lewistown is seeking volunteers to help sort and bale plastics. Even an hour or two a week would make a big difference.
The Treasure Depot is recruiting volunteers for Saturdays to work the register. This opportunity might appeal to someone interested in a weekend volunteer experience. The Treasure Depot supports the works of the Council on Aging.
Valle Vista Healthcare Community is in need of volunteers interested in enriching the lives of nursing home residents. Perhaps you have a special skill to share, such as crafting, playing cards, or performing music. Or maybe you have an extra hour per week to talk or read to a resident who doesn’t receive many visitors. There are many opportunities available. Please contact RSVP for more information.
The Office of Veteran’s Affairs and the Central Montana Fairgrounds are both in need of volunteers to provide clerical support on an as-needed basis.
