Saying Goodbye

A note from Volunteer Coordinator Sara Wald:

After two wonderful years with the organization, I will be leaving my position at RSVP. I would like to thank all the incredible volunteers and worksites with whom I have had the opportunity to work. I have learned so much about the impact volunteers have on almost every aspect of our community, and also about the fantastic non-profit organizations that are the soul of this community. It has been a pleasure working with you, and I wish each volunteer and worksite the very best.

I encourage you to continue to call in your hours to the Lewistown office at 535-0077, or drop them off under the office door upstairs in Wells Fargo. Until a new coordinator can be hired, RSVP Director MaLinda DiTonno will be frequenting the Lewistown office to keep things running smoothly. Phone messages will be checked and responded to regularly.

Volunteer Opportunities

The Art Center is seeking volunteers, especially on Saturdays. Other organizations in need of volunteers are the library and the Community Cupboard.

The Council on Aging is seeking additional hosts, dining room help, and dishwashers for their daily Grubstakes meal. This is a crucial service provided in Central Montana, and a meaningful volunteer opportunity. The Council on Aging is also in need of volunteer office help during the busy lunch hour.

The Red Cross is recruiting a Fergus County Disaster Action Team to respond to local emergencies such as house fires, wildfires and floods. Volunteers would serve on an on-call basis to support local agencies and authorities in the relief effort. Services provided may include arranging for emergency food, housing, clothing and transportation, as well as referrals to other resources. Training and support is provided by Red Cross of Montana.

ROWL (Recycle Our Waste Lewistown) is seeking volunteers to help sort and bale plastics. Even an hour or two a week would make a big difference.

The Treasure Depot is recruiting volunteers for Saturdays to work the register. This opportunity might appeal to someone interested in a weekend volunteer experience. The Treasure Depot supports the works of the Council on Aging.

Valle Vista Healthcare Community is in need of volunteers interested in enriching the lives of nursing home residents. Perhaps you have a special skill to share, such as crafting, playing cards or performing music. Or maybe you have an extra hour per week to talk or read to a resident who doesn’t receive many visitors. There are many opportunities available. Please contact RSVP for more information.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary is open to female veterans and their spouses. They always welcome new members to assist in various projects and recognitions benefiting veterans throughout the year.

The Office of Veteran’s Affairs and the Central Montana Fairgrounds are both in need of volunteers to provide clerical support on an as-needed basis.

For more information or to turn in your hours, please contact the volunteer coordinator, at 535-0077, or stop by our office at 404 West Broadway, Wells Fargo Bank Building (upstairs), in Lewistown.
