Oct. 4
• At 11:09 a.m. a caller told dispatch Winifred had lost power so they could disregard a fire alarm call. The caller stated, “The hotel is not burning down.”

Oct. 5
• At 8:25 p.m. a man brought a box holding an injured hawk into the sheriff’s office. Dispatch put the bird in the garage, and called Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks to pick it up the next day.

Oct. 6
• At 12:16 a.m. a caller reported a black cow just off the side of the highway. Dispatch notified the owner, who said he would take care of the animal but had to get dressed first. A deputy responded as a form of accident prevention, watching the cow until the owner arrived.

Oct. 8
• At 8:47 a.m. a construction zone’s traffic foreman reported a bad driver. He said a white truck had passed a line of cars, the line’s pilot truck and finally a dozer blocking the road to drive through construction.
