Summer Fun camps

Summer is about exploring the world and discovering new ways to have fun with friends. What better way to enjoy all the fun Lewistown has to offer than with our creative kids’ summer camps? There are three exciting programs still in store this year, with “All About Insects” (July 17-19), “Music Makers” (Aug. 7-9) and “The Play is the Thing” theater camp (Aug. 14-16). Please register at the Gift Shop at least a week in advance, or get more info online at lewistownartcenter.net.

In the Wilkins Gallery

You won’t want to miss the new work in the Wilkins Gallery, which is certain to spark your imagination and pique your curiosity. The contemporary acrylic paintings and sketches of Helena’s Jay Crider will be on display for the month of July in our exhibition of “The Fantastic.”

This vibrant and evocative show is a real conversation starter, focusing on the mysteries of life by way of dark fantasy with comic-book flair. Stop in to see for yourself.

Social Night at the

Art Center: chokecherry liqueur

In honor of Lewistown’s beloved Chokecherry Festival coming up Sept. 9, we’re planning an extra special SNAC event for August.

Each year the Art Center hosts the “Chokecherry Festival Culinary Contest,” open to anyone who wants to show off their favorite recipes using this tart little fruit. On Aug. 16, we’ll get a jumpstart on our cooking skills by brewing up our very own chokecherry liqueur, perfect for an after-dinner cordial or fancy fall cocktail. We’ll learn about infusing liquors, decorate gift jars and go home with a batch of beautiful brandy to share with friends.

Social Night is held the third Wednesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. All materials and refreshments provided. Space is limited so please register early, either online or by phone at 535-8278.

Hot summer nights

The heat is on in Central Montana, and downtown Lewistown is set to celebrate the season with “Hot Summer Nights” on Friday, July 21. Businesses will be open late, with special events and live music for all.

Stop by the Art Center for a “Fix Your Own Jewelry” demonstration, where tools and supplies will be on hand to finally repair those broken clasps and bent posts on your favorite accessories.

We’re excited about this opportunity to help support local business this summer, and look forward to seeing you all downtown.

New art photographs display at CMMC

The Lewistown Art Center is proud to partner with the Central Montana Medical Center to bring local and regional artists’ work to more people in our community. Starting July 12, CMMC will have new work on display by fine art photographers Peter Hingle and Patty Thompson. Masters of their craft, Hingle and Thompson’s work paints an inspiring narrative of our world. This display will be featured at CMMC through November.

The Lewistown Art Center promotes art, art education and art appreciation in Central Montana. Regular hours are Tuesday – Friday from 11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is always free. Join the “ArtWorks” volunteer group every third Wednesday at 11 a.m. to support the Art Center in accomplishing its mission. New members and volunteers are always welcome; for information call 535-8278.
