Today’s ‘Community Solar Basics’ seminar open to community

Considering solar at home, ranch or business, or as part of a community solar project? Citizens can learn about their options at a free informational seminar to be held today, Feb. 22, at the Community Center at 307 West Watson Street in Lewistown. The seminar is free and open to all Central Montana citizens, who can register at the door beginning at 4 p.m.
Registration and refreshments begin at 4 p.m., the presentation begins at 4:30 p.m. A question and answer session will follow until 6:30 p.m.
Speakers Dan Rogers from the Missoula Electric Cooperative and Orion Thornton from Onsite Energy Inc. will provide an overview of solar options, lower solar costs and increased efficiencies. Fergus Electric Cooperative’s Scott Sweeney will introduce the co-op’s new community solar project. Claudia Rapkoch and Lisa Perry, both from Northwestern Energy, will discuss NWE’s community solar pilot projects and net metering.
The seminar is sponsored by Central Montana Resource Council, Fergus Electric Cooperative, Montana Farmers Union and MSU Fergus Extension.
