Vicki Lee Ruana Deffinbaugh

Vicki Lee Ruana Deffinbaugh, 62, of Lewistown, was called home to the Lord Oct. 19, 2017, after complications from rheumatoid arthritis and pneumonia. She passed peacefully at the Montana Advanced Care Hospital with her husband by her side. Vicki was born Feb. 19, 1955 to Dennis Sr. and Joyce Ruana. She grew up in the Missoula valley helping her dad build houses, and her grandpa with the ranch. She graduated from Hellgate High School in 1973 and went on to attend the Montana Institute of the Bible.

On Jan. 22, 1977 she married John Deffinbaugh and started a life together raising boys and cattle. She worked as an all-around ranchhand, housewife, and as a CNA at New Horizons Assisted Living. Vicki loved life on the ranch, her family, hiking, skiing, and most of all, riding her horse. She was active in the Back Country Horsemen and the Fiber Guild. She loved the Lord and lived life with a simple caring faith. She honored people’s virtues, accepted their faults and was everyone’s friend, drawing people around her into Vicki-land.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Her family includes her husband of over 40 years John Deffinbaugh; sons Jason (Becky), Rick, and Tyler Deffinbaugh; grandsons Zane and Finn Deffinbaugh; brothers Bud, Dave (Phyllis) and Don (Cindy) Ruana; nieces and nephews Meghan (Colton) Manfredi, Nathan, Will, and Davis Ruana; cousin and lifelong friend Ann Larsen; and BFF Cheri Miller.

A memorial service will be held at the Celebration Community Fellowship Church Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. with reception to follow.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Cottonwood Fire Hall restroom fund or a charity of your choice.
