Wesley Raymond Anderson

Wesley Raymond Anderson passed away on Feb. 1, 2017 after a short, courageous battle with a fast-moving cancer, surrounded by family. He was born on Feb. 21, 1956 to Kathryn Mary and Stanford Wellington Anderson in Minneapolis, Minn., where he received his education prior to moving to Lewistown, Mont. in 1975.

He first worked for brother-in-law Ted Botnan in construction, and found that was not for him; instead he found a job at the Yogo Inn where he became a great bartender. Wes prided himself on remembering anyone’s drink no matter how specific it was.

While at the Yogo Inn, he met waitress Mary Ellen Petersen; they married on Nov. 19, 1977. After several years, Wes advanced to become manager of the Yogo Inn and loved all the day-to-day excitement of running the hotel. He then moved on to sell insurance for Colonial Insurance Co., traveling the state of Montana, and meeting new people (one of his favorite things to do). Topping the list of his accomplishments were his sons Lance, Ryan and Adam; his daughter, Jillian, and his granddaughter, Jadyn.

He met and married Carly Prichard in 1991 in Lewistown, becoming a stepdad to Ann, John and Debbie Jones. Later he moved back to Minneapolis where he held various jobs. After they separated, he moved to Rock Springs, Wyo., then to Bluffdale, Utah, where he worked for Coca-Cola until the time of his passing.

Wes was an avid “sports nut,” loving baseball, basketball, hockey, football and golf. He will always be remembered for his huge smile and hearty, contagious laugh. He loved spending time with family and friends, telling jokes, and was the life of any get-together.

Wes was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Gwen, her husband and two children (all killed in a plane crash), his brother-in-law Ted Botnan and nephew Todd Botnan.

He is survived by his sons Lance Wesley Anderson of Helena, Ryan Mark Anderson of Alaska, Adam Mathew Anderson (wherever he may roam); his daughter Jillian Price and granddaughter Jadyn Bauer of Bozeman; his sister Louisa Botnan of Rock Springs, Wyo. and nieces Angie and Christina; brother Russ Anderson of Rock Springs, Wyo. and nephew Will; and brother Jeff of Minneapolis, Minn.

The family will hold a wake for Wes at the Judith Mountain Ranger Station in the Little Belt Mountains on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at 2 p.m. Anyone is welcome to come and share stories of Wes with his family and friends. We will serve a taco bar, Wes’ favorite food.
