Sharon Kay Stead

Sharon Stead peacefully passed away in Stewart, Tenn., on June 9, 2016.

Sharon was born in Bakersfield, Calif., to Thomas and Sylvia Blakemore. Sharon went to school in Bakersfield, graduating from East High School. She then attended college in Missoula, where she graduated with a B.A.

After college, Sharon became an airline stewardess for United Airlines stationed in Chicago. While in Chicago, she married David Morris Markle and had two children: Pamela and Douglass Markle. After her divorce, she opened her own music box company, Designs by Sharon, based out of her home in Palos Park, Ill. Her music box company was extremely successful and it took her around the world. She remarried to Kenneth G. Stead and moved to Frankfort, Ill. When Ken retired from Stead Textiles, they moved to Lewistown. There, Sharon opened Western Education, selling educational software and items to various schools in the Northwest.

Sharon is survived by her husband Kenneth G. Stead, daughter Pamela Markle, son Douglass Markle, stepdaughters Pat Spencer and Diane Bailey, brother Bob Blakemore and seven grandchildren. Sharon had several cousins, uncles and aunts who live in Lewistown.

Sharon made lots of friends through her journey in life. She lived life to the fullest. She had a huge heart to a fault. She loved entertaining, gardening, design, reading and fly-fishing.

A private service will be held in Lewistown on July 30 with family and a few close friends. Her ashes will be spread up on the ranch where the family originally settled. She loved Montana the most. Please keep Sharon in your prayers. She never wanted anything more than to please the people she encountered.
