The Lewistown Sea Lions swim team took third place at the Eastern A Divisional Swim Meet, which was held on Saturday and Sunday, July 23 and 24 in Malta. The Sea Lions finished with a total of 824 points, compared to first-place Sidney with 985 points and second-place Chinook with 926 points. Other teams competing at the meet, along with their scores, were 4. Scobey, 574; 5. Glendive, 502; 6. Malta, 477; 7. Glasgow, 464.5; 8. Roundup 457; 9. Plentywood, 381.5; and 10. Harlem, 260.
This weekend the top 12 individual places at the divisional meet will be competing at the Federation Sate Meet in Hamilton. The top six relay teams at the divisional meet also qualify for the state meet.

Wickens sets two state records
Sea Lion Alex Wickens had a remarkable divisional meet by setting two new state federation and three pool records in the three individual events he competed in. Wickens, who competes in the men’s 15-19 year old classification, set a new state and pool record in the 200-meter individual medley event with a time of 2:24.79. Wickens set a state and pool record in the preliminaries of the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 56.20 seconds. He won the event on Sunday with a time of 56.39. His third record, a pool record came in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4:42.40. Wickens has another shot at the state record this weekend at the state meet. He does hold the state federation record in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4:40.67, which he set in 2015.
Lewistown had a number of swimmers who captured first-place finishes at the meet in Malta. Madeline Denton took first in the 50-meter backstroke with a time of 43.20 seconds for girls’ ages 9-10. Denton added a second first place in the 100-meter individual medley with a time of 1:35.36 and a third first place in the 50-meter breaststroke in 48.75. Kieran Netburn took first place in the boys’ 9-10 50-meter butterfly with a time of 41.32 seconds. Netburn also placed first in the 100-meter individual relay at 1:34.23. Netburn picked up another first-place finish in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 1:17.86, which set a Malta pool record. Royce Robinson was first in the boys’ 9-10 year old 50-meter breaststroke, touching the finish line at 50.07 seconds. Siri Pederson was first in the women’s (15-19 years old) competition in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 5:26.03. Caleb Russell brought home first-place in the boys’ 13-14 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:14.20. Russell was also first in the 200-meter individual medley at 2:45.90.
The Sea Lions also had several relay teams place first in Malta. The men’s 200-meter free-style team was first with a time of 1:47.68. That was good enough for a new Malta pool record. The team set another pool record in the 200-medley relay with a time of 2:07.49. Members of the men’s relay teams were Wickens, Noah Majerus, Hayes Majerus and Caleb Russell. The Sea Lions boys’ 9-10 100-meter relay team took first in 1:09.95. The same boys’ 9-10 team took first in the 100-meter medley relay at 1:23.39.
