Fergus High School and Lewistown Junior High activities

Summer seems to go by faster each year. Believe it or not, it is time to start thinking about fall activities at FHS and LJHS.  Girls basketball, football, boys/girls cross country will start on Monday, Aug. 22 at 4 p.m. at the Junior High. Parent meetings for junior high activities will be announced. Any questions on fees, physicals, etc. contact the LJHS office. If you have questions, please call the numbers listed at the end of the article, and we should be able to answer them or find someone who can.  We are looking forward to an exciting 2016-17 year. Join in the fun-get involved in activities, it can be a wonderful experience.
FHS student and adult activity ticket and participation fee monies will be accepted beginning on Monday, Aug. 1 in the FHS office from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Participation fee is $100, which also includes a student activity ticket. Activity tickets are: adult-$65 and student-$45 for the school year. Participation fee covers all sports and speech and drama. An activity ticket needs to be purchased by cheerleaders, music students, intramural participants, and FFA members. They may be purchased by any interested student or adult for entrance into FHS sports and music activities, except tournaments. Parents and students are encouraged to purchase activity tickets at the beginning of the school year to enjoy all the benefits and convenience they provide.
Practices for Fergus High School volleyball, football, cross country will start Aug. 12. Golf practice will start on Thursday, Aug. 11. Cheerleading try-outs will be announced. A student who plans to participate in any fall sport, including cheerleading, must have a physical on file in the FHS office before their first day of practice. Any student planning to take weight-training class must have a physical before the first day of school. All physical forms must be turned into the FHS office.
Football practice for all freshmen through seniors will start Friday, Aug.12 at 8 a.m.    Head Coach: Vic Feller.
Freshmen through seniors will have volleyball practice from 4-7 p.m. at the Civic Center on Friday, Aug. 12. Head Coach: Tara Taylor
The first cross-country practice will be a midnight trail run at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 12.  They will meet at Golden Eagle Stadium on Thursday night just prior to midnight to make sure all physicals are turned in. Bring glow sticks if you have them. There will be a swim practice at noon on the 12th at the city pool. Head Coach: Suzie Flentie.
First golf practice will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11 at Pine Meadows Golf Course. Head Coach: Brett Thackeray.
Cheerleading try-outs will be announced. Head Coach: TBA.

Parent meetings
All FHS fall sports parents will meet together at 7 p.m. in the Fergus Center for Performing Arts on Monday, Aug. 15 for activities and Booster Club information. Each sport will then split into separate rooms for sport’s specific information with the head coach of the sport. All meetings will be on Aug. 15.

A couple of reminders
• No individual will be allowed to practice unless they have turned in their physical form to the FHS or LJHS office.
• Participation fees need to be paid and medical release forms and student responsibility forms turned in to the FHS office within the first four days of practice. Athletes will be required to pay any and all outstanding fines and fees from past years before participating in any sport.
• Participants should be dressed and ready to go at least 15 minutes before scheduled practice times.
• Parents must attend parent meetings. They are for your information about our particular programs. Schedules, team rules, philosophy and booster information will be discussed. If you cannot make the meeting, you must make arrangements with the head coach to review the content of the meeting. Your athlete will not be able to compete until this is completed.

Blue-Gold scrimmages
Blue-Gold scrimmages and FHS booster membership registration kick-off will be held on Friday, Aug. 19. A schedule will be announced at a later date.
