Dominic ‘Nick’ Alan Sereday

Domnic ‘Nick’ Alan Sereday, 48, was born in Lewistown, Dec. 13, 1967. He was the youngest of eight children born to Henry and Opal Sereday. His sisters named him Dominic because it meant “God’s Child.” Nick was a special person who brought smiles of joy to many people. He had his challenges in life, but worked through them to the best of his abilities. He passed away of natural causes on November 27, 2016 at the CMMC. He spent his last few remaining months receiving great care at Valle Vista.

Nick wasn’t afraid to pursue his many interests. He loved music, particularly country western. He collected cars and wrestling action figures. He loved the Dukes of Hazard and even referred to himself as Bo Duke. Later it was Walker, the Texas Ranger that he emulated. With a bit of difficulty he even mastered the art of riding small motorcycles, only running into the house once!  Nick loved Bingo, participated in Special Olympics and earned many awards in bowling, bocce and other sports. Later he took up Wii bowling and became an absolute master! He could regularly bowl a 200-plus game. His friends and family who bowled against him had a hard time keeping up with him. He had trick shots that we’ve not seen anyone else able to duplicate!

Nick was quite the jokester and loved to joke around with the girls, telling them they were beautiful.  He would say to anyone standing nearby, “this is my wife!” This brought a smile to many faces. He was fond of giving pet names to family like Creamy, Rosanne, Biscuit and Martinell to name a few.

Nick was the last child at home. He could regularly be seen with his mother Opal as they shopped around town. After she passed, Nick was able to live on his own with the help of family, friends and social services for almost seven years. During this time he acquired a kitten named Cooter, who became his special companion. He made many friends when he moved into Snowy Mountain Apartments, and also at the Group Home.

Nick was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Opal. He is survived by his seven siblings which include: David (Sue) Sereday of White Sulphur Springs; Beverly (Rick) Halverson; Sandy (Kirk) Eastman; Daryl Sereday; Doug (Linda) Sereday; Susan (Bruce) Hinkley; Dennis (Almyra) Sereday all of Lewistown and also nieces and nephews and other numerous relatives.

Nick’s family would like to thank those who provided assistance for Nick, of which there were many excellent care givers.

Viewing will be held Friday Dec.2, 6-8 p.m. at the Creel Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Service for Nick will be at New Life Assembly at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 3, with reception to follow.
