Fergus senior Sam Butcher has decided to follow in his older brother’s footsteps as he committed to play football next year for the Orediggers of Montana Tech. Butcher earned all-conference and all-state honors as an offensive and defensive lineman for Coach Vic Feller’s Golden Eagles this past fall. Butcher has also been selected to play in the annual East-West Shrine All-Star football game in July.
Butcher decided to sign with the Orediggers after a great visit to the college in Butte last Friday. Butcher also had offers to play for Valley City State in North Dakota and Concordia College in Minnesota. He also had campus visits with Dickinson State and Rocky Mountain College, but decided to cancel those visits because he felt at home in Butte.
Butcher is the son of Jason and Marci Butcher.
