Local cadet graduates from West Point


Cadet Jarrett Murray Guyer, son of Justin and Lori Guyer of Redmond, Washington, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy on Saturday, May 27.

Cadet Guyer is the grandson of Donna Guyer and the late Charles Guyer, and the grandson of the Guyers in Ekalaka and Miles City (eastern Montana) area. Jarrett attended Bozeman Public Schools until eighth grade. In middle school he took math classes at Bozeman High School. He attended high school at Fergus High School in Lewistown.

Guyer’s father taught in the Bozeman school district and his mother was the assistant principal at Bozeman High School. Both parents also worked in the Lewistown school district.

Guyer graduated from Fergus High School in 2013. While at West Point, he concentrated his studies in physics with honors. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army within the Field Artillery branch, and will report to MIT in Boston, Massachusetts, for a Masters Degree in physics for his first assignment.

The mission of the U.S. Military Academy is to educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character, committed to the values of duty, honor and country, and prepared for a career of professional excellence and service to the nation as an officer in the United States Army.
