Summer Fun camps

Summer is here and the kids are out of school. What better way to make new friends and explore our community than with the Lewistown Art Center’s Summer Fun camps? We have an exciting schedule lined up next month, with “Take Flight” July 10–12 and “All About Insects” July 17–19. Camps run 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. (noon) for K-3 and 1:30-4 p.m. for grades 4-8. Please register at least one week in advance; either visit us in the Gift Shop or online at lewistownartcenter.net.

Social Night: Sip and Paint

Back by popular demand, July’s Social Night at the Art Center will be another fabulous Sip and Paint party. Enjoy appetizers and BYOB (bring your own bottle) as we inspire and encourage artistic flair... no previous painting experience necessary.

Talented instructors will lead us step-by-step through the process of creating our own acrylic masterpieces to take home that evening. You’ll be amazed at what you can do. These events fill up quickly so please register online or give us a call at 535-8278 to reserve your spot today. Social Night at the Art Center is always on the third Wednesday of the month, so we will see you July 19.

In the Wilkins Gallery

The Lewistown Art Center is delighted to host the work of Helena artist, Jay Crider, and his exhibition “The Fantastic” for the month of July. Crider’s works push the boundaries of traditional painting genres, blending fantasy and reality, humor and levity. Crider developed his craft for more than 15 years, working mainly in acrylic. His work is derived from an imaginative process of journaling and sketching, and can change entirely from beginning to end. This process – and the surreal elements of his work – invites viewers to consider the mysteries of imagination.

There will be an opening reception for “The Fantastic” on Friday, July 7 at the LAC from 5-7 p.m. Join us for refreshments and some brief remarks from the artist.

We thank Greg Clark and Frank Valach for their generous sponsorship of this exhibition.

Make some art

As a reminder, all members of the Lewistown Art Center have access to our supplies and equipment. The Lewistown Art Center is your art center, and that means you can make artwork here, too. Come in when we’re open and ask for a tour of our facilities, including our ceramic studio. We have something for everyone, from novices to professionals. Stop in today.
