Fergus County Commissioners meet today

 

The Board of Fergus County Commissioners will hold a regular business meeting today, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. in the Fergus County commissioners’ office on the second floor of the courthouse in Lewistown. Items on the agenda include personnel announcements and claims. This meeting is open to the public. 

 

Have a cuppa at the Grass Range Fire District annual meeting

 

Grass Range Rural Fire District will hold its annual membership meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Grass Range Fire Hall, 607 Main, in Grass Range. Come and visit with our current board members, check out our new tender truck and enjoy a cup of coffee.

 

Grass Range Methodist Church to hold prime rib dinner

 

Treat yourself to a prime rib dinner at the Grass Range Methodist Church on Sunday, Nov. 5, with serving from 12 p.m. (noon) to 2 p.m. This delicious slice of beef will be served with baked potato, tossed salad, French bread, relish tray goodies, and all topped off with your choice of delicious pie. Come on out and enjoy this tasty meal with your friends and neighbors.

Profits from this meal will be used to support our church school program. Be sure to sign up for the door prize.

 

Second annual Haunted Hustle set for Saturday

 

For the second straight year, Young People in Recovery will host “Haunted Hustle,” a fun-run that raises funds to promote awareness about recovery. The run starts at the Yogo Inn parking lot, goes up and around the frog ponds to McDonald’s, down Main Street and back to the Yogo Inn.

During the run, participants watch out for “ghoulish” characters along the way. Wearing costumes during the fun-run is encouraged and there is a prize for best costume.

The “hustle” begins at 7 p.m. Entry forms are available at True Value. For more information, call Taylre Sweeney at 366-4233.

 

Be there for the start of Head Start’s expansion

 

On Thursday, Oct. 26 at 11:30 a.m., the public is invited to the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of Central Montana Head Start. Board and Policy Council members, staff, government officials, donors, volunteers, CMHS parents and families, Diamond Construction, Stahly Engineers, Van Bryan Studio Architects and the public will be on hand to celebrate the commencement of construction on a 5,586-square-foot expansion. Most importantly, the children who attend preschool at Head Start will help out with the ceremony in their new hard hats.

Library to observe Veterans’ Day

 

In observance of Veterans’ Day, the library will be closed on Friday, Nov. 10. Regular hours will resume on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

 

Friends of the Library to meet Wednesday

 

The quarterly Friends of the Library meeting is on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 12 p.m. in the upstairs meeting room. Meetings are open to the public.

 

Library Saturday story time will be Oct. 28

 

Story time for babies, toddlers and preschool kiddos is held weekly on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Saturday story time is this week on Oct. 28 at 10:30 a.m. 

Please remember the Saturday story time is held on the last Saturday of each month.

 

Is the groove in your heart Saturday?

 

The Groovy Gaffers will provide the music for the Saturday afternoon dance on Oct. 28. The band features Laurie Lohrer on vocals, and Dave Robertson and Don and Barb Engle on guitars and vocals.

The dance hall is located at the corner of Third Avenue South and Barnes Street. The dance goes from 2-4 p.m. Dancers of all ages are welcome.

There will be a coffee/cookie break at 3 p.m. There is a small admission fee.

 

Writer’s Group to meet Thursday

 

The Lewistown Writers’ Group will meet Thursday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m., at 216 Ridgelawn Ave. in Lewistown.

LWG is a collaboration of Central Montana writers who meet on the second Saturday and fourth Thursday of the month. It is a non-profit resource for writers of all genres and skill levels. Members include published authors as well as those who like to write for enjoyment.

If you like to write, or be in the company of writers, come join us. If you want to share a piece of your work, bring eight copies.

Barns group to discuss status of national listing

 

The Save the Barns Committee will meet at 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, in the Six 18 Coffee Shop at 618 W. Main Street. Items to be discussed include the status of the listing of the draft horse barn at the Fergus County Fairgrounds on the National Register of Historic Places. The listing was approved at the state level and is now being considered nationally. The meeting is open to the public.
