Back Country Horsemen to have holiday potluck

 

The Judith Basin Chapter of Back Country Horsemen of Montana invites everyone interested in preserving equine access to the back country to join them at their annual holiday potluck dinner party, Monday, Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Complex. The Central Montana Learning Resource Center Cooperative will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 10 a.m. at the Lincoln School in Lewistown. Items to be discussed include collective gaining, calendar items, concerns, correspondence, public participation or comments, and director reports on professional development, case manager training, school Pysch Service redesign, interlocal agreement deadlines, investment report, fiscal analysis and long-range planning. Also to be discussed will be action items: school psychologist contract, telepractice privacy policy and flow-through requests. This meeting is open to the public.

 

Local Fibre Arts Guild to meet for potluck

 

The Central Montana Fibre Arts Guild will meet at the Celebration Community Fellowship Church at 6 p.m. on Dec. 14 for a potluck holiday party.

 

Central Montana Health District Board to discuss budgets and policies at next meeting

 

Central Montana Health District Board will meet on Thursday, Dec. 14, at 1 p.m. in the Central Montana Health District Conference Room, Centennial Plaza, 300 1st Ave. N., Suite 201 in Lewistown. The meeting is open to the public and public comments are welcome.

Topics on the agenda are Central City Auto waiver, Paul Hart, D’Autremont Holding Tank, CCCP budget change, junk vehicle budget, new complaint policy, new vehicle checkout policy, Honda CR-V, housekeeping gift, 2018 Cooperative Agreement with DPHHS and reports from each department.

‘Tree of Lights’ ceremony is Dec. 14

 

Please join CMMC Hospice for the “Remembrance Chime Ceremony” on Thursday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. The ceremony will be held at the CMMC Medical Arts Building. 

Light is a symbol of LOVE. This memorial event offers a touching and visible way to remember a loved one during the holiday season. 

Dedicate a “Light of Love” in memory of a fried or loved one. 

Following the ceremony, volunteers will be available to help individuals find a loved one’s ornament. 

 

Little Belt Snowmobile Club to hold monthly meeting and holiday potluck

 

The Little Belt Snowmobile Club will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, Dec. 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion in Lewistown. A holiday potluck dinner will follow; bring a dish. Dinner for Moose Legionaires this evening

 

There will be a roast pork dinner for Moose Legionaires and their guests on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. All Moose members, along with their families and guests, are welcome – the more the merrier.

 

Moose kids’ annual holiday party to be held Dec. 15

 

The annual holiday party for young people will be held on Dec. 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Moose Lodge Dinning Room. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be there. Pictures with Santa will be taken for kids to take home. Kids, for food and fun, be sure to bring your parents.

The annual Moose holiday dinner will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. Moose members, be sure to bring all your family and friends for a good roast beef dinner and good fun.

 

Port Authority considers training for workplace skills

 

The Fergus County Port Authority meets Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 8 a.m. in the Stockman Bank conference room. Items on the agenda include introductions of two new board members, election of officers, old business and skilled workplace training opportunities. The meeting is open to the public.

 

Winter Fair returns to Lewistown for 73rd year

 

The Montana Winter Fair returns to Lewistown for its 73rd year with over 25 events at multiple locations Jan. 25 – 28, 2018.

Winter Fair events planned include: The Farm Forum (featuring Greg Peterson of the Peterson Farm Brothers), Ranch Sorting, Rabbit Agility and the Youth Beef Show will celebrate Montana’s awesome agricultural production. Dutch Oven cooking, homemade quick bread, and chili and cinnamon roll competitions will tempt tummies. Stick Horse Rodeo, Old McDonald’s Barn and the Pinewood Derby will keep youth busy. The Cold Hard Cash Show (Friday night concert), open fiddle contest, quilt show, fiber arts show and recreations show bring an artistic flair to the fair. Also planned, an arm wrestling contest, trade show, Polar Plunge, Tough Enough to Wear Pink breakfast, Meet and Greet with the Ice Queen, candlelight walk by Relay for Life, Cowboy Church, and much, much more.

Fergus County Commissioners Regular Business meeting scheduled for Dec. 11

 

The Board of Fergus County Commissioners will hold their Regular Business meeting on Monday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. in the Fergus County Commissioners’ Office (712 West Main Street, Suite 210) in Lewistown. Items on the agenda include personnel announcements, public hearing/second reading on an Ordinance Establishing Penalties for Violating Fire Restrictions and Burning Without a Permit as well as claims and the coroner agreement. This meeting is open to the public. Please remember that agenda items are due to the Commissioners 10 days prior to the meeting.

 

 

Several policies on agenda for Lewistown School Board

 

The Lewistown Board of Trustees December meeting is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. The meeting is at the Lincoln board room. 

First readings of three board policies are on the agenda. Fergus High School Principal Jeff Elliott will make a presentation on the core/flex program at the high school. Football Coach Vic Feller and volleyball Coach Tara Taylor will provide the board with short presentations on their respective programs.

At the conclusion of the regular meeting, the board will go into executive session for the superintendent’s evaluation.

With the exception of the executive session, the Board meeting is open to the public.  

 

Montana Wilderness Association to have pre-season snowshoe walk

 

The Montana Wilderness Association will have a pre-season snowshoe walk at the Beckman Wildlife Management area on Saturday, Dec. 16. The snowshoeing party will meet in Denton at the Shade Tree Café at 8:30 a.m. Sign up early as the group is limited to 12. John Spencer, evangelist, comes to Lewistown

 

The Church of the Nazarene is excited to host John Spencer this coming Sunday, at 10 a.m.

John Spencer is a cowboy evangelist with Big Sky Ranch Ministry. He pastored a large a Cowboy church in Texas before starting the Big Sky Ranch Ministry here in Montana and Wyoming. He is a gifted preacher and musician.

The service will be at 10 a.m. this Sunday and the church welcomes anyone who might be interested in hearing him.
