Harold (John) Dean Sears

John was the sixth child, born Nov. 27, 1927, to Bert and Myrle Sears in Sterling, Colorado. He was very young when his family moved to Webster, Wisconsin.

In 1944, he married Ruth Crosby, a union to which six children were born. In 1950, he moved his family to Montana because he and his dad had work in the woods. This was seasonal work, so John moved his family back to Webster. This lifestyle continued until 1954, when John moved his family to Martinsdale, Montana. In 1957, the family moved back to Webster. At that time, John went to work in road construction until he retired at age 62, when he moved back to Martinsdale, Montana, where his brother, Roger Sears, lived.

John was preceded in death by his wife Ruth (Brownie) Sears; one son, John Sears; one daughter, Diane Gomulak; three brothers: Douglas Burton (first), Douglas Burton (second) and Roger Sears; two sisters: Mildred (Sis) Petersen and Doris (Dode) Reno; and his special love, Josie Blumer.

He is survived by his sons: Bill Sears (Linda) and Randy Sears; daughters: Ruth Ann Johnson and Connie Bushey; and several nephews and nieces, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

John died peacefully on Feb. 23, 2018, under the care of Hospice of Central Montana.

John’s main purpose in life was to cut firewood. He couldn’t pass by a downed tree where he wanted to get out his chain saw and start cutting.
