James Robert “Griff” Griffin

James Robert Griffin “Griff,” 46, of Lewistown passed away July 26 in Billings.

James was born Dec. 24, 1971 in Butte to Raymond Gilbert Griffin and Kathleen Carol Aho-Griffin. James grew up in Butte with his younger brother Scott Michael Griffin. He played football on the offensive line in grade school and junior high in Butte where he also attended Butte High School. He and Scott liked to break dance in their free time. He worked for some time as a CNA at the Montana State Home, in Lewistown, where the residents loved him. He had many friends whom he loved as brothers and sisters. James impacted the lives of many with his larger than life personality, sense of humor and his ability to love wholeheartedly. He was always making people laugh and smile. There was never a dull moment when Griff was around. He was a talented artist. His brother Scott had a poster he drew of Darth Maul signed by the actor that portrayed him in Star Wars. He always had a great passion for music. Rarely did you find Griff not rocking out to his favorite bands. Above all the things he loved and cherished most, his daughter and granddaughters were undoubtedly the light of his life.

James was predeceased by his mother Kathy and father Ray. James is survived by a daughter, September Brown; granddaughters, Priseis and Cienna Gardner; brother , Scott Griffin; sister-in-law, Jodi Griffin; nieces, Emily and Isabelle Griffin; and many lifelong friends.

A celebration of life will be held Sept. 2 at 3 p.m. at The Depot in Butte.
